Director of Procurement, Food & Nutrition Solutions

Summary:
Equalis Group is seeking a Director of Procurement to lead our Food & Nutrition Solutions portfolio, creating manufacturer agreements that serve thousands of public sector organizations nationwide. This role is critical in shaping how schools and government entities access quality food products through cooperative purchasing.
Location:
The preferred location for this position is office-based at our headquarters in Plano, Texas. This may be flexible dependent upon qualified candidates.
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Champion the overall strategy, management, and development of the food & Nutrition Solutions manufacturer portfolio.
- Lead the RFP process for food manufacturers, from initial outreach through contract execution.
- Negotiate and structure manufacturer agreements that provide competitive pricing and terms for Equalis Group members.
- Maintain, develop, and grow strategic relationships with suppliers and lead agency leadership teams.
- Ensure all parties are working in harmony to drive success through contractual partnerships.
- Conduct market research through supplier outreach, industry-specific channels, and other resources to determine requirements for each sourcing category.
- Communicate Equalis Group’s organizational values to prospective respondents to the RFPs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the food program, including procurement regulations and industry trends.
- Provide insights and feedback to the Equalis Group procurement team and lead agents on supplier responses and capabilities prior to award.
- Identify and drive execution on food program value-added services and analytics that enable and drive the overall success of the program.
Job Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in food procurement, GPO management, or food manufacturer relationships.
- Energetic and enthusiastic; comfortable working in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment and enjoys building lasting relationships.
- Self-motivated, results oriented, with the ability to work in a remote environment.
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with contract negotiation and legal document review preferred.
- Occasional travel of 10-20% may be required.
