Forward Edge Partner Managed Services supports a partner school district’s current critical infrastructure, keeping district operations moving forward without incident or lost learning time. This infrastructure can consist of many elements, such as network switches, servers, battery backup units, wireless networks, and more.
Monitoring system health and alerting is the core of the Managed Services offering. Forward Edge monitors and ensures the covered infrastructure of a partner district’s network remains functional and available for use. The Network Tier works by deploying a physical probe within the partner school district’s network. This device is managed and maintained by Forward Edge and first serves as a tool for authorized network engineers to securely access the environment and administrate new configurations, updates, changes, or troubleshooting of a partner district’s network. It also functions as a monitoring resource by capturing data from thousands of data points on the critical infrastructure identified in the sections below.
This data is captured and returned to Forward Edge’s Network Operations Center (NOC) on a 24×7 basis for analysis and review during business hours. Overall, this service allows for additional resources to continuously watch over the network to ensure it is available and capable of sending and receiving data at any given time.
Forward Edge Partner Managed Services Core Offerings
- Servers: This tier focuses on monitoring and supporting a school district’s server environment, which includes cloud, physical, and virtual servers. It is critical for maintaining data and end-user access to authorized resources.
- SCCM/MEMCM: This tier is dedicated to monitoring and supporting a school district’s SCCM Server. It is critical for tasks such as maintaining the SCCM/MEMCM Server, deploying Windows Updates, application packaging, and managing operating system deployment.
- Switch: This tier involves monitoring and ensuring the functionality of a school district’s network and data infrastructure, including core routing, edge switching, and lab switches.
- Wireless: This tier focuses on monitoring and ensuring the functionality of the wireless network infrastructure and broadcast networks.
- UPS: This tier is centered on monitoring and ensuring the functionality of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units to maintain the availability of a school district’s IT infrastructure during power outages.
- Backup: This tier involves monitoring and ensuring the high availability of backup appliances and repositories in a school district’s IT infrastructure. It is critical for ensuring scheduled, recurring backup jobs are running.
- Video Surveillance: This tier provides monitoring and support services to a partner school district’s physical security initiatives, specifically video surveillance systems, including cameras and related equipment.
- Access Control: This tier provides monitoring and support services to a district’s physical security initiatives, focusing on access control solutions, such as door locks, access control nodes, and related equipment.
- Firewall: This tier provides monitoring and support services for a district’s in-house firewall, which is critical for protecting the district from internet threats and other districts/devices.
